I Can't Stand Up for Falling Down

Newhaven FC v Littlehampton Town FC in the Peter Bentley Cup Final at the Camping World Stadium

The Dockers face the League champions, the Golds (full name the “Marigolds”, I’m glovin’ it). The final fixture of the Dockers season and after several postponements and rearrangements we are finally here to play at Hassocks Horsham on a sunny wet Monday Wednesday Sunday afternoon evening morning.

The heavily depleted Reds started well but were soon struggling in the face of the quality of the Golds who missed a few early chances but went in front on 6 minutes. A mistake from Jake left Bailey on the floor and an open goal for the 2nd on 15 minutes. Newhaven were stronger after the break and there were chances both ways but the Golds sealed the win with a 3rd on 70 minutes. The make-shift Newhaven squad fought bravely to get a goal back but it wouldn't come. Another disappointing Final defeat for the Dockers to end a really good season. Looking forward to next season already.

It was raining on and off all match and the pitch was really slippery. Lots of comedy moments with players falling over when they least wanted to. Atleast they didn't get muddy.

Goodbye and thanks to Seb who is retiring and played his last game today. Been a solid player. Going to miss his tackling and sometimes wayward passes.

The heavy security presence probably means that Prince William is presenting the trophy. πŸš” πŸ€΄πŸ†

POTM: Jake 'Bussy' Buss for some amazing saves. πŸ‘ We've forgiven you for trying to kill Bailey and gifting them the second goal.

Hot chocolate was the usual 8/10. Scranometer is having a day off today.

Congratulations to Little-Ampton on the league title (grrrr), the cup win (double grrrrrr) and good luck in the upcoming Vase and RUR Cup games. The non-league quadrouple would be quite something. And the first ever team from Sussex to make the Vase final. Do us proud at Prenton Park South.

That’s it for a busy season. Time to hang up my badges for a while. Hopefully be back for the Euros. Engerluuund.

(Beep beep) Train To Hopeville

Brighton & Hove Albion Women vs Everton Women in the WSL at the Broadfield Stadium

The Seagulls host the Toffees at the home of Crawley in the last game of the Women's Super League season.  The hosts need a win for a record points tally.

Brighton started slowly and the  BS  threatened to score, eventually doing so in first half injury time.   The Albion came out fighting and had the Toffees pinned back.  The goal eventually came when Aileen Whellan followed up after Inessa Kaagman hit the bar.  There were a few more near misses but it finished a goal each.

It was a lively game with some robust tackling. Ref did well to stop them killing each other. πŸ₯Š

POTM:  Goes to Megan Walsh in goal πŸ₯… for keeping the Albion in the game early on.

No hot chocolate today but food registered 8/10 on the scrannometer. Yum   πŸŸπŸ”

Thanks ot the SeaGulls Ska Band for adding some Tequilla to the atmosphere.  πŸ₯πŸŽ·πŸŽΊπŸŽΈ

Visited the outdoor club shop and got a rainbow 🌈 seagull badge.

That's another league season over. Hope to be back next season.  πŸ˜ͺ

Congrats to Tranmere who won away yesterday!!!πŸ‘€πŸ‘€ and commiserations to Tranmere who failed to make the playoffs.😭😭😭
