Cwmru as you are

Tranmere Rovers away to Newport County at Rodney Parade in League 2

The Whites visit the Exiles on a sunny February Saturday  in Wales.  The SWA turned out in good numbers to enjoy the sunshine 🌞 if not the football.   The boys never really got a grip on the game but held on for 0-0 at the break.  Not everyone came back out of the bar for the 2nd half. 🍺🍺 Lucky them.  The hosts went 2-0 up, the second with a penalty for a foul so far outside the box that Nicola Sturgeon had an opinion on it.
Tranmere got the ball down for a few minutes and leveled the score with Josh Cogley getting his first for Tranmere. Our second was a OG. It didn't last and the Exiles got another 2 but could have got more.
It went off big time in our stand and was our liveliest for a while.
Not the result we wanted or needed. We dust ourselves down and go again (with more rubbish football in a different town).

Was nice to visit Wales πŸ΄σ §σ ’σ ·σ ¬σ ³σ ΏπŸ‘

Ref was the worst for a while too.  A proper Nigel Farage.  Two Tranmere players literally had their shirts ripped off them and not a foul in sight.

Hot chocolate rating:  Not chocolate more like. No hot drinks.  Are you Wycombe in disguise?

POTM:  It could only be Josh Cogley for his goal.  #freecharliejolley

See you at Northampton.   Hope the sun shines there too.

Parking the Buss

Newhaven FC v Crawley Down FC at the Trafalgar Ground in the Quarter Final of the Peter Bentley Cup

Ford Road hosts the Dockers v the Anvil on another cold night but this time it's a cup game πŸ†with the winners going into a Semi-final against Godalming or Pagham.  The game needs a result on the night so there is threat of extra time and penalties .  Could be a late one.

It was a lively battle but the Dockers usual skill and discipline showed and rewarded the with a goal in each half.  A brace for Lucas.  They missed a number of easy chances so could and should have run away with it.  The visitors had a number of shots on target but Jake made a great couple of saves.

There was also some comedy defending form the Dockers,  luckily nothing came of it.  Harold Lloyd may have been impressed but it made the manager quite cross.😑

One a sliding scale of Mike Dean to Smug Tory, the ref measured up a moderately Smug LibDem.  Could have been worse but could also have been a lot better.

Biggest disappointment of the Night!!!  No ferry!!!  WTF, felt like asking for a refund. πŸ›³πŸ’°πŸ€¬

POTM: Award goes to Jake (double decker parked across the goal) Buss for some excellent saves and good distribution.   Who knew it's not a legal requirement for the keeper to HOOOFF long balls to the opposition defenders?  Not me. 😯

Hot chocolate was a solid 6/10 after being an initial no show.

Was glad to get home in the warm.  Hope to see you in Wales.

Well done to Horsham in their cup game.

Flailing Saddles

Tranmere Rovers away to Walsall at the Bescot Stadium.

Rovers visit the Saddlers on a cold day in the sunny West Midlands.

Well that was rubbish.  Both keepers could have gone to the pub and result would be the same.  The big away crowd making a noise had no impact on the performance.  The match was settled by a penalty to the Saddlers. Long balls to a defence containing our old favourite Manne Monthe was not a good plan.  The Saddlers were a bit unsteady on their feet, maybe they had been out the night before 🍻.   Didn't make a good combination with a whistle happy ref. Very frustrating to watch.😀

Was good to sing some songs for Nate.  🎡He's on off our own🎡

POTM: The Walsall fan who ran from the far end to the edge of our penalty area unchallenged,  the best running πŸƒ‍♂️ off the ball we had seen all day.

Hot chocolate 7/10

We have to admit to having smuggled in contraband in the form of a pastie and twix. Down with the food ban and up the food smuggling whites.

Congratulations to Newhaven and Horsham who both won.

See you soon.
